Special rights

The permit for temporary residence for the purposes of performing work requiring high qualifications allows various advantages that are not available in the case of other permits, including inter alia:

  • the permit can be issued for a period by 3 months longer than the work period (Article 128);
  • the permit can be issued for a period from 15 months to three years (Article 128);
  • the permit allows remaining without work for no more than 3 months during the permit term (Article 133 section 2 point 1), but no more than 2 times during the permit term (Article 133 section 2 point 2);
  • unlike other temporary residence permits, the permit for temporary residence for the purposes of performing work requiring high qualifications allows immediate family reunification.

Holders of the Blue Card benefit from more favourable conditions for family reunification, relocation of family members from one Member State to another Member State and for obtaining a long-term residence permit (periods of residence in Member States are added when applying for the status of the EU long-term resident) than other members of third countries.
