Information and advice contained in the text may be useful both for women who came to Poland with their families and for those who emigrated on their own. It applies to all groups of foreigners, regardless of their residence status, age, lifestyle and prospects of their remaining in Poland. If you are a woman and not a citizen of Poland, this text is addressed to you.
In accordance with Article 33 of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland , women and men have equal rights in family, political, social and economic life. The Constitution of the Republic of Poland also prohibits discrimination in political, social or economic life for any reason (Article 32).
Article 33 of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland has the following wording:
- Men and women shall have equal rights in family, political, social and economic life in the Republic of Poland.
- Men and women shall have equal rights, in particular, regarding education, employment and promotion, and shall have the right to equal compensation for work of similar value, to social security, to hold offices, and to receive public honours and decorations.
Furthermore, in accordance with Article 23 of the Polish Family Code:
Spouses shall have equal rights and obligations in the marriage.
